The GamingX legacy lives on through CpuJunky.com! This page was originally a part of my previous site, GamingX, but since GamingX has been long gone I have decided to bring this section back from the grave in its entirety. There will be no new updates to this section, but with my last ounce of effort I removed all broken links and changed the invalid email addresses.

As a side-note, BrianRT (formerly HugeHippo), declined to have his "GamingX Allies section" put onto CpuJunky.com, so you'll have to make do with  the Soviets. He's just a butt-monkey like that. Most of the Red Alert strategies and tactics listed here work well with any C&C Strategy game out today, so if you still play Red Alert or a C&C game like it, this page can be very helpful.

The Soviets' Red Alert News

  • 11/27/97- The latest issue of PC Gamer talks more about Sole Survivor, the upcoming Westwood game. Basically, it is a C&C style internet only game where the player controls only 1 unit. Various powerups can improve one of 5 different characteristics including armor, reload rate, speed, range, and weapon strength. As far as C&C: Red Alert is concerned, not much more is planned.
  • 11/10/97- Aftermath has been out for some time now. It includes new units for both sides. For the Soviets, new units include the Tesla Tank, Sea-Land Missle Submarine (finally!), Shock Troopers, and the Hammer-Hitting M.A.D. Tank. For the Allies come the Stealthy Chronotank and Unit-repairing Field Mechanic. Definitly work checking out for the hardcore Red alert fans.
  • 8/21/97- A patch for Red Alert AND Counterstrike has been released by Westwood. It works with both versions of C&C. The patch is suppose to improve error handling and increases LAN and modem compatibility, randomizes player starting locations in multi-player games, and stops players from allying with computer players during skirmishes or multi-player games. A multi-player save game feature has been added too, as well as a new option that allows players to slow down unit build rates during Internet games – so this is a fairly significant upgrade. DOWNLOAD IT HERE! (Please note that by now there may be newer patches)
  • 8/08/97- "Aftermath" is the working title for Westwood's next Red Alert add-on. Also in the works are "C&C 2:Tiberian Sun" and "Commando", a 3D action game that uses the voxel technology found in "Blade Runner".
  • 7/16/97- All is slow in Red Alert land, not much is new. If you have purchased Counterstrike, you will notice it upgrades your original 1.04 Red Alert to 1.07E. This patch fixes the problems metioned below in the previous news headline. Unfortunately, there is no sign that Westwood is going to release a patch for users who have not bought Counterstrike. If you want the update and fixes, you'll need to buy Counterstrike. Rumors indicate that Westwood is going to release new enhanced versions of C&C on DVD once DVD drives becomes popular. Command and Conquer 2 is in the works and I can't wait to head up more mayhem!
  • 4/25/97- A patch for Red Alert will be available very soon. The patch will address several problems and concerns that players have expressed since Counterstrike release. The patch will supposedly allow you to use the new units in multiplayer games, allow those without Counterstrike to play the add-on maps anyway, eliminate the Tank Rush strategy by slowing the speed of tank building at the start of the game, and add a "hard" difficulty level on single-player games.
  • 4/20/97- Welcome to my Soviets Red Alert Site.
